Mr. Raj Kumar Subhkaran Jatia
Mr Raj Kumar Subhkaran Jatia was born in Rangoon, Burma (Now Myanmar) on 14th October 1951 to late Subhkaran Jatia and Late Rampyari Devi Jatia.
Mr Jatia started his career from the family textile business in Nepal and gradually expanded his foothold overseas (east-Asia). To fuel growth and access broader market, he established office in Osaka, Japan and developed procurement network with South Korean traders. In the beginning of 1980, he moved and established an office in Hong Kong.
Banking on his operational expertise, Mr Jatia diversified his business portfolio by acquiring India’s largest safety match company WIMCO in Assam. Subsequently, he constructed a ceramic tile factory at Baroda, Gujrat in the name of Bell Ceramics. The tile business was further strengthened by another plant at Bangalore.
During the Asian Games of 1980s, Mr Jatia ventured into the hospitality field. He established India's first Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Delhi and thereafter, constructed three more hotels in Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune under the Hyatt Regency brand. In 2008, Mr Jatia built India's first Four Seasons Hotel in Mumbai. This property continues to be a Landmark in Mumbai.
Today, Mr Raj Kumar Jatia with his 45 years of diverse International Experience is a renowned personality within the real estate and hospitality sector. He is currently on the Board of Provenance Land Pvt Ltd – a luxury Residential and Commercial developer in India with GIC Singapore as a partner company.
Mr Raj Kumar Jatia has a passion for construction, technology & innovation in real estate. With his experience in identifying opportunities and creating landmark properties, he has embarked on a development journey to UAE. He is currently a resident of UAE. He has been an advisor to a Hircorp Real Estate, UAE and more recently to Sumitomo Fudosan, Japan in their expansion plans in Mumbai, India which led to them successfully acquiring a 22 acre parcel of land at Worli, Mumbai.
